Isaiah not only saw the Lord, he saw himself for what he was in the presence of the Lord. He cried, “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!” (Isa. 6:5). In the presence of God, Isaiah saw himself as a sinner in need of God’s forgiveness and restoration. Today in worship we are to stand in the presence of the Holy One of Israel and see ourselves as the sinners we really are.
